62.07-Being a goalie is harder than I thought

In the previous episodes of the Smole, the contestants took part in Carnival festivities by dancing the samba or performing capoeira. Their efforts netted 10/44 points for the pot, making it 93/170 points. Alan was the next one to be executed. Will the next victim be a man or is the Mole a man? Who is the Mole?

●◆●◆●◆●

Hugh: "It's official. I suck at this game. I thought it was Norman because he failed the vibe check, you know what I mean? And then he was gone. And then I thought it was I J 'cause he was the one who went up to perform when it should have been Seph, and then he's gone too."

If there's one sport Brazilians love, it's soccer. The contestants will get a chance to play an adaptable mission first seen in Season 55. They will play soccer at Praia Mole while testing their trivia. They start off with 100 points and will be asked 9 trivia questions in total. Each question will have two correct and one wrong answer (except the last question). The contestants must ensure that the correct answers enter the goal while the wrong answer is blocked, or else they lose 10 points.

Avery: "I J said he plays soccer. Too bad he ain't here no more."

●◆●◆●◆●

Carolina: "The most important decision was who would be in each group. We wanted to ensure fairness and everyone gets a roughly equal number of chances. But some of us stand a better chance than others, naturally. So we had to take that into account as well."

●◆●◆●◆●

"Q1: Which of the following soccer players are Brazilian?
Messi
Pele
Ronaldinho"

Mandy: "Pele is the founder of Brazilian soccer. It's not him."
Carolina: "Ronaldinho is Brazilian too. The wrong answer is yours, Mandy."

Mandy: "Beverly, block mine!"
Avery: "Do I kick?"
Carolina: "Yes!"

Beverly: "Gotcha!"
"The wrong answer is indeed Messi, who is Argentinian."

"Q2: Which years did Brazil win the FIFA World Cup?
1949
1958
2002"

Cecelia: "1949 and 1958 are close to each other, which makes me think that the last time they won was before the 2000s."
Marshall: "I thought they won fairly recently but I am not a soccer fan."
Cecelia: "They could have won after 2002. It's possible to have a dry spell."
Seraphine: "So the answer is mine. Hugh, block mine!"

Marshall: "Wait! We're not done discussing!"
Cecelia: "Too late. Just kick!"

"Hugh has blocked 2002. However, they did win in 2002. They did not win in 1949. You have lost 10 points."
Marshall: "We were too hasty."

"Q3: Which of the following football clubs belong to the G-12, a group of successful Brazilian football clubs?
Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas
Floripian Football Club
Sport Club Corinthians Paulista"

Marshall: "Let's not be hasty again. I think my answer is the wrong answer as it is not in Portuguese."
Cecelia: "I think that's too easy. We fell into the same trap in the previous question. I think it's the first one because botafogo was a dance move. You remember that right, Caitlin?"
Caitlin: "I do. You make a good point, but my gut is telling me that Marshall has the incorrect answer."
Marshall: "We have a majority."

Marshall: "Block my ball!"
Avery: "Loud and clear!"

Avery: "Blocked your ball."
"You blocked Floripian Football Club. That is indeed the wrong answer. It does not exist."

"Q4: Which of the following are cities in Brazil?
Brasilia
Puerto Vallata
Recife"
Carolina: "Mine is in Mexico. Everyone in agreement?"
Caitlin: "Yup."
Beverly: "Fine by me."

"You have blocked Pureto Vallata, which is the incorrect answer. It is in Mexico."

Caitlin: "Yeah!"
Beverly: "Girl power!"
Carolina: "The perks of still being in school."

"Q5: Approximately how large is the Amazon jungle or basin in km^2?
7 million
6 million
5 million"

Hugh: "You're the smart one Mandy. Any ideas?"
Mandy: "Not a clue. It is a complete guess. I'm surprised there are even two correct answers."
Seraphine: "One must be the size of the jungle and the other must be the size of the basin."

Hugh: "I'm gonna say 6 million is the wrong answer."
Seraphine: "I think it's 7 million. That is too high."
Mandy: "I don't have a clue. My hunch is 7 million too."

Hugh: "Avery! Get ready!"
Mandy: "Block mine!"
Avery: "Loud and clear!"

Mandy: "Oops!"

Avery: "Did I get it?"
"The 7 million ball did not enter the goal. However, that is the approximate size of the Amazon basin. The Amazon jungle is approximately 6 million km2. 5 million is the wrong answer, so 10 points have been lost."

Hugh: "Damn it. We were all wrong with our guesses."
Seraphine: "We underestimated the size of the Amazon."
Mandy: "I'm not a sporty Sim."

"Q6: In which years did Brazil bid to host the Olympics?
2004
2008
2012"

Cecelia: "I think I read 2004 somewhere, but don't quote me on it."
Seraphine: "Who will know this stuff?"

Marshall: "2008 was hosted by Beijing. 2012 was in London. I don't remember where 2004 was."
Seraphine: "It might have been Greece."
Marshall: "We are looking for a wrong answer."
Cecelia: "I think it's 2004. If we don't have a better option then we should listen to me."
Marshall: "Fine."

Cecelia: "2004 is the wrong answer!"

Beverly: "It went through my legs! Oh no."

Beverly: "I caught something else instead. I hope catching something leads to a better result."
"Beverly caught 2008. That is indeed the wrong answer. Brazil did not bid then."

"Q7: Which of the following are nicknames for the Brazilian national side?
The Little Canary
The Master
The Green and the Yellow"

Carolina: "What is a national side? A dish?"
Cecelia: "I think it's Carolina's. No way they would eat a bird."
Carolina: "I wouldn't put it past them. Indigenous cultures can be weird with exotic food."
Mandy: "Yours and Cecelia's are related to the colours of Brazil's flag too. We need to help Avery decide what the correct ball to block is."

Mandy: "Are we in agreement to block The Master?"
Cecelia: "I'm not."
Carolina: "I'm not sure, but your theory makes sense."
Mandy: "Cecelia?"
Cecelia: "Okay, but I bear no responsibility if this turns out to be a mistake."
Mandy: "Block mine!"

Avery: "Caught it!"
"That is indeed the wrong answer."

Carolina: "What do you know? You were right, Mandy."
Cecelia: "It was a lucky guess."
Mandy: "She's right. We got lucky."

Marshall: "Are you sure about this?"
Caitlin: "Yeah! I wanna try being a goalie just once. I have the body mass for it."

●◆●◆●◆●

Caitlin: "We agreed to send the strongest team to the last question so there was only one more chance for me to try being a goalkeeper. The Smole is about exploring your boundaries."

●◆●◆●◆●

"Q8: What is written on the Brazilian flag when translated to English?
Order
Progress
Success"

Hugh: "I'm not a flag guy."
Marshall: "I think it makes sense for a country to want progress and success. Order is a strange choice, even though I think more countries should have that value."
Seraphine: "I agree."

Marshall: "Block my ball!"

Caitlin: "Oof. Did I do it?"
Seraphine: "You did not."

Hugh: "Shit I swear I have better aim than that."
Marshall: "We can only hope that yours was the wrong answer that should not have entered the goal."

"Success did not enter the goal. That is indeed the wrong answer. The flag writes 'Ordem e Progresso' which translates to 'Order and Progress'."
Caitlin: "Hehe. Being a goalie is harder than I thought."

"This is your final question. There are four balls, two of which have the right answer and two of which do not. Beverly, as the final goalkeeper, you must ensure both incorrect balls do not enter the goal. Q9: Which countries border Brazil?
Uruguay
France
Chile
Ecuador"

Avery: "I don't know my geography but I reckon France is too far."
Carolina: "I agree. France is in Europe. Brazil is in South America."
Hugh: "We need one more wrong answer. I vote for Uruguay."
Marshall: "I think Uruguay borders Brazil. Brazil is a large country."
Carolina: "How about Chile? Chile is down south. Brazil isn't that far down."
Avery: "Chili and France?"

Marshall: "Beverly! You must block Avery's ball and Hugh's ball. They are Chile and France."

Carolina: "Shit it hit the fence and bounced back."
Marshall: "Carolina! Language."

Beverly: "I managed to block Hugh's. That's something at least."

"Brazil borders many countries, including Uruguay and the French Guinea which is considered part of France. It does not share a border with Chile or Ecuador."
Carolina: "Me missing was the right move!"
Hugh: "Huh? Oh!"
Avery: "I don't get it."

Hugh: "We succeeded!"
Avery: "Oh. Awesome!"

"After an afternoon at the beach, you have kept 80/100 points, so the pot grows to 173/270 points."

The group managed to bounce back in this mission with a success. Is the Mole giving in or does the Mole have other plans? Who is the Mole?
