On the Smole, 11 contestants were given a chance to call
back home, but it was bungled when Ernest, Veronica and Melody appeared in the
call room at once. 0 points were earned, making the pot 100/580 points. To
their shock, Ernest was the human shield, so everyone except him was up the
block. The Mole earnestly thought that Nathaniel was a big threat and thus had
him executed. Who will be next?
Melody: “I’m fine. Just a fall.”
Melody: “OW! That hurt! Even the elevator is bullying me!
I…I can’t stand being in the house anymore!”
Fern: “Wow, you can cook? I could never do that…”
Ernest: “I’m cooking for myself, actually. You guys never
asked me to cook for you. I only cook for others when I’m hosting gathering
anyway. Great! You distracted me!”
Fern: “Sorry…”
Ernest: “…It’s nothing. I’ll go seek some solace now. It was
a nice chat.”
***
Ernest: “I think you and I get along well, so could we form
a coalition?”
Vivian: “Well, okay. Let’s keep it secret, shall we?”
Ernest: “Why? I really don’t see the need to do so.”
Vivian: “Do you want to win? If you do, do as I say.”
Ernest: “Wow, all of you are so talented.”

Contestants are going off to do the next mission, worth 200
points. Contestants will be playing Whodunnit for the third time. Six of them
would explore the house to search for clues as to who murdered the poor Alex
Smith. The other four would be investigating in the morgue. They would then
congregate and share their findings if they wished to and then go and formulate
their theories. 10 points are earned for identifying the correct killer,
another 10 for being close to the actual series of events. The closest one will
earn an exemption and a question.
These 6 will be investigating the house.
Veronica: “I say we split up. It’ll be too claustrophobic
and inefficient if we cluster together like blood clumps.”
Ernest: “Blood clumping is deadly.”
Ernest: “Let’s pair up! I’ll go with Vivian!”
Vivian: “Smart choice!”
Veronica: “I can go with Melody.”
Bryan: “Then I’ll pair up with Fern.”
Fern: “I hope I won’t be a burden to you…”
Bryan: “Fern needs to have more confidence. At the very
least though, she isn’t like Roy, spouting negativity everywhere he goes. I
really cannot stand that.”
Fern: “Erm, Bryan?”
Bryan: “Yes?”
Fern: “Should we look around in the other room first?”
Bryan: “No need to. Ernest and Vivi will be doing it. I
trust them.”
Fern: “They’ll do a better job than I ever would.”
Veronica: “Boy, this is heavy. Mind giving me a hand?”
Melody: “I was about to ask you that.”
Melody: “This thing seems to be jammed…aah!”
Veronica: “You okay there?”
Melody: “Yeah.”
Veronica: "Really? You look like you just got raped by the dresser."
Ernest: “This juice bar does not seem off.”
Vivian: “You seem to be a pro drinker.”
Fern: “This cabinet seems to be missing something. I see a
wide gaping hole. They’re all cleaning supplies though, so I think it could be
that…I’m not sure, really.”
Bryan: “Alright, nothing out of ordinary in the tap. What
are out of the ordinary are the dangerously perched rolls of towels. Alrighty,
let’s go to the next room.”
Melody: “What a coincidence.”
Fern: “You sound so nonchalant saying that.”
Melody: “I’m just being calm about it. No need to shriek
about seeing the Mole.”
Bryan: “It’s like seeing a ghost.”
Veronica: “Anyone else smell that? It stinks! It’s like some
disinfectant and chloroform mixed together!”
Melody: “The Mole, that traitor, right next to me…why are
the curtains missing anyway?”
Bryan: “There are three equipment here. I say we use them
and test them out.”
Veronica: “Yeah, sure, whatever.”
Bryan: “This bar feels like it hasn’t been touched in ages!”
Fern: “Here goes nothing…the smell seems to be the strongest
here.”
Veronica: “Come on Veronica, you can lift that weight!”
Fern: “AAAHHHH!”
Melody: “That must be some evil ploy!”
Fern: “I think so too. This is dangerous to use!”
Melody: “Like someone STABBED
YOU IN THE BACK!”
Fern: “Please! Don’t scare
me! I’m already terrified by this machine!”
Vivian: “How to be true to yourself…seems like this Alex guy
lives a sad life. Maybe the book has some insights to this murder?”
***
Bryan: “We’re done, and we’re just waiting for the other
side to finish right?”
Veronica: “We are not told who the suspects are. How are we
going to solve this dark mystery? While intriguing, it’s unsolvable!”
Fern: “I hope you all don’t mind me speaking, but I think
whoever did it must be doing it for the money.”
Vivian: “Hmm…”
Ernest: “Ha! Impossible!”
Vivian: “Why?”
Ernest: “Erm…well, actually it could be possible on closer
thought.”
Melody: “No way is that the case here. This house looks so
modest and simple. I don’t think Alex Jones is rich.”
Bryan: “Yes, I agree. Heh. Quite a far stretch for this to
be true here.”
Fern: “I’m sorry I said it?”
Bryan: “No, nobody blames you.”
Ernest: “Why not we just share what we know? I can’t wait
any longer!”
Vivian: “And let’s make a pact not to reveal too much to the
other side. They’re very smart.”
Meanwhile,
Colette: “I have some idea on what could have happened, but
I need to study this first.”
Craig: “I think I have inspiration for my next movie.”
Colette: “Mr. Gulf hardly did anything constructive, but he
said he was in deep thought, trying to process all the information, so I
believe him. Why would he lie?”
Natalie: “Guys, I’ve found three clips! Let’s listen to each
one.
Heidi-I am Alex Jones’ maid. I cannot believe he died like
that! We were very close since he lived alone. I noticed Alex lying on the
ground in the mini-gym at 2.15pm when I was going to call him for lunch. Mr.
Nettle was there with him.”
Kurt-I am Kurt Nettles, Alex Jones’ trainer. Every weekend we
would have an appointment in his house. He wanted to keep fit. I came at around
1.30pm on the fateful day. I took the shortcut through his bedroom and to my
horror! I found him dead! He was lying on the ground, near the window! Blood
was flowing from him, it was scary!”
Lidya-I am Lidya Seuss, Alex Jones’ neighbour. I do not know
Mr. Jones that well other than the fact that he lives alone. I’m a nosey
fellow, so he shut the windows and drew the curtains close the whole day so
that I could not peep. I remember that on that day however, one of the windows
had no curtains and I could see through. I did not notice anything. It was
around 2pm when I noticed the curtain-less window.”
I bet one of them is lying.”
Roy: “Poor Mr. Jones. What is the point of living? We are
all going to die like him in the end. My condolences…what is this?”
Roy: “I noticed an autopsy but I did not think it was of any
use since we were bound to lose again as we have for the past few missions.”
Natalie: “Funny, nothing like an autopsy or anything to tell
us more about him.”
Colette: “Well, I think I still have a theory. Shall we go
to the other side now?”
***
Bryan: “Nice of you guys to finally come. What did you
find?”
Roy: “A poor dead man!”
Natalie: “3 suspects: Heidi, the maid, Kurt, the trainer,
and Lidya, the pesky neighbour. Heidi said she discovered Alex at 2.15pm, Kurt
at 1.30pm and Lidya at 2pm. That was all.”
Fern: “But that’s not enough!”
Craig: “What did y’all find?”
Vivian: “We actually didn’t see anything off! It’s like
someone cleaned up the crime scene!”
Melody: “I’ve held it in for so long, I need to release it!
HOW DARE THEY TRY TO SABOTAGE! Don’t they see how much we’ve lost already? I
refuse to believe that they found nothing else other than the suspects in the
morgue! Four of them! Good thing we had planned not to share too much with
them, or we would be at the losing end!”
The contestants proceed to make their theories-
Natalie: “I have nothing to go on, so I shall say it’s the
neighbour Lidya. She probably was a burglar and had been eyeing the
neighbouring house for a long time, knowing that he lived alone. One day, she
chose to sneak into the house through the window without the curtain, only to
be caught by Mr. Jones himself in the gym. In haste, she killed him with a
knife she had armed herself with in case.”
Craig: “I’ve seen this so many times before. It’s the maid,
Heidi. She wants more pay so she decides to attack Alex from behind while he
was doing some exercise, then cleaned the place up, spick and span.”
Roy: “I do not know who it could be. The maid? Yes, I shall
make a random guess and say it’s the maid because she did not like her boss, so
she beat him with a broom until he died, then tore off the curtains to clean
the mess.”
Colette: “I believe Heidi did it. The place was cleaned,
right? Only she would have access to it and think of it. I believe she tampered
with one of the exercise equipment and
when Alex used it, he injured himself and died from it. Then Heidi cleaned the
place up. I’m willing to bet he was close to the window and the blood
splattered onto the curtains so she had to remove it and wash it.”
Bryan: “Heidi did it. There was a strong disinfectant smell,
as if she was cleaning the place to make it completely spotless. Nobody would
go to that extent, especially when that was the only room with the smell. I
think while Alex was running, Heidi poured some disinfectant into the treadmill
and caused him to fly out the window or something.”
Fern: “I really do not know…Heidi? It’s always the maid if
not the butler…erm…erm…she poured disinfectant into the treadmill and caused it
to spoil, so Alex injured himself…but he shouldn’t die because of that…oh, she
must have then attacked him! How cruel!”
Veronica: “Heidi is the killer. My intuitions tell me so.
Heidi did not like her boss so she came very early and tampered with the
treadmill, so when Alex used it he hit his head against the treadmill and broke
his skull and blood flew everywhere, including the curtains, so she had to
clean up.”
Melody: “Heidi is the murderer! The curtains were absent. I
think she did something to the treadmill and caused Alex to hit his head on the
window. She deliberately removed the curtains so that the impact would be
stronger. Then she cleaned up.”
Vivian: “Kurt must have done it! He noticed Alex dead the
earliest, and probably did not like working for this customer, so he tore the
curtains off and gagged him! Then he went into the bathroom and looked for
something to clean up the mess, which is why the place smells so badly. No
professional would use that much disinfectant.”
Ernest: “Heidi did it. She killed Alex by pouring
disinfectant into his mouth while he was exercising and gasping for breath! I’m
right, right?”
The actual events:
Heidi had the spare keys to Alex’s house.
She was also upset because her boss was stingy with the pay rise but was
willing to spend a lot on hiring a personal trainer. On that day, she came
early and tampered with the treadmill before doing her usual chores. She
removed a gear and threw it into the toilet bowl. When Alex woke up and used
the treadmill, he flew and hit himself against the wall with the windows,
staining the curtains blood-red in the process. He then dropped to the floor,
so the blood flowed on the floor by the corner. At 1.30pm, Kurt came in and saw
Alex’s body and alerted Heidi, who was laughing inside. She then quickly chased
Kurt back while she pretended to call for an ambulance, when in reality she was
cleaning up the place with disinfectant, trying to get rid of any stains. There
was no hope for the curtains, so she brought them with her as she left to
dispose of it, along with the bottles of disinfectant she used up.
All but Natalie and Vivian guessed Heidi, so 80 points are
added. Colette and Veronica were closest to the theory so another 20 points are
added, totaling to 100/200, or 200/780. Among the two, Colette was closer and
so she earns the exemption and the question! The human shield also happened to
be Colette, so everyone else is at risk of being executed.
Colette: “I can see the
Mole’s reasoning for chooisng me as the human shield, though I don’t like the
term. Also, there are so many clues that seems to have been missed! I think the
other 6 were hiding something from us. I decided to explore a bit and noticed,
the rug on the floor in the gym, the missing curtains, the strong odour and the
gear in the toilet bowl. Perhaps I should have been the one to explore the
house instead. After much discussion with my coalition members, I have decided
on a question.”
